Local Love: Black Cat Boulder

Black Cat is like a little slice of foodie heaven, and it’s definitely worthy of a local love feature. What started back in 2006 as a cozy neighborhood bistro by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife Jill has grown into something truly special. It’s now a 500 acre farm, a farm to table restaurant, and some seriously dreamy dining experiences. You can taste how much care goes into the food with every bite you take.

Black Cat is all about keeping it fresh, local, and sustainable. Their farm grows over 250 kinds of fruits, veggies, and herbs. That’s everything from everyday favorites to fun, unique varieties, and it all makes its way onto the menu. In 2024, the restaurant moved to its beautiful Farmstead location for even more space to play with flavors, while their original downtown spot became Bramble & Hare, a cozy little sister serving up the same farm fresh goodness in a more laid-back setting.

One of the most magical they do? Their farm dinners. Imagine eating in your own little glass cabana, looking out over rolling fields, while savoring a multi-course meal made from the freshest ingredients. It’s intimate, scenic, and absolutely Instagram-worthy.

But Black Cat isn’t just about food, they’re all about community too. From hosting weddings and seasonal celebrations to supporting local charities, they’ve made giving back a big part of their story. And they’re serious about making sure everyone gets a taste of what fresh, sustainable food can be.

They’ve been featured in several news outlets, with high praise. It’s no wonder it’s a beloved Boulder spot. It’s definitely worth a trip if you’re making your way into the Foothills.

There’s a sense of care and joy in everything they do, from the way the ingredients are grown to the way the dishes are plated, that makes you feel connected to the land and the people behind it. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t just feed you, but leaves you smiling, inspired, and maybe even a little more in love with good food.
